Delivery to your building in Nimman

Nimman is where most long-stay visitors to Chiang Mai end up living, and it is the easiest part of the city for us to serve. Delivery is free anywhere in the district. Tell us the building name and the soi number on LINE when you book, and we bring the car to the lobby at the agreed time.

Two practical notes about the area. Several of the numbered sois off Nimmanhaemin Road are one-way, and the direction is not always obvious from a map app until you are already committed to the turn. And many of the older condo buildings have no visitor bay at all — the drop-off is a single car width with a security barrier behind it. If either applies to your building, we meet you at the mouth of the soi on Nimmanhaemin Road instead, which is a 30-second walk and far less stressful than trying to do a handover while blocking a lane.

Parking, honestly

This is the part worth knowing before you rent a car to live in Nimman rather than to travel out of it.

If your condo comes with a parking space, everything below is irrelevant and you are fine. If it does not, parking in Nimman is genuinely difficult in the evenings. The street parking along the main road and the busier sois fills up from about 18:00 and stays full until late. The mall car parks are the reliable fallback and are free for the first few hours with a purchase.

Our honest advice: if you are staying in Nimman and your plan is to walk to cafés and restaurants and drive only to get out of the city, a car is still very much worth it — the driving you actually do is the good part. But check with your building about a parking space before you commit to a monthly rental. A condo space in Nimman typically runs a few hundred baht per month and removes the only real friction of having a car here.

The BYD Dolphin is the easier car for this area. It is meaningfully shorter than the ATTO 3, which matters both in the tight sois and in mall car parks where the marked bays were laid out for smaller cars.

Getting out of the city from Nimman

Nimman's position is the reason it works well for a car. Huay Kaew Road runs west from the top of the district straight to the foot of Doi Suthep — Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is about 30 minutes from most Nimman addresses, and the university zoo and Huay Kaew waterfall are closer still.

Heading north for Mae Rim, the elephant sanctuaries and the Mae Sa valley, you avoid the old city entirely by taking the canal road, which is usually 20 to 30 minutes faster in the morning than cutting across town. Going south towards Hang Dong, San Kamphaeng or the airport, the ring road picks up from the western edge of the district.

The old city is about 10 minutes east, though in practice most people walk or take a ride-hail for that trip and leave the car parked.

Charging around Nimman

You will not need to charge on your first day — the car is delivered fully charged, and that first charge is on us.

After that, the pattern that works best here is AC charging while you are doing something else. Several of the mall and hotel car parks around Nimman have AC points, and a couple of hours plugged in while you eat is usually enough for a few days of city driving. For a proper fast charge, the DC units are at the petrol stations on the larger roads ringing the district. If you are renting monthly and your building has a socket you are permitted to use, ask us — slow overnight charging covers ordinary city use without you ever visiting a charger.

Handover and documents

Handover takes about 15 minutes. Bring your original driving licence, held for at least a year; the driver must be 21 or over. Foreign licences must be accompanied by a valid International Driving Permit and your passport — we cannot hand over the car without one, because your insurance would not cover you. We photograph the car together, corner by corner, and send the whole set to your LINE chat straight away. The deposit is ฿5,000 in cash or by PromptPay, returned in full on the day you hand the car back.

Long stays

Nimman is where most of our monthly rentals go. The rate drops substantially with length of hire — see the rates page for the full bands — and for a stay of a month or more the daily cost lands well below what daily rentals or ride-hailing would total. Monthly hires include the same first-class insurance, unlimited mileage and free delivery as any other rental.
